So hello again internets.
I found this image today and was literally stopped mid stride in the mall.
Its a public safety poster warning about the hazards of cold water this time of year. As I walked past I figured "cold water, yeah, yeah whatever." I then took a double take noticing how this went from a safety poster to a horror movie poster with the cold grip of hypothermia rising out of the bubbles and cold depths to pull our hapless victim into the deep.
I find this an interesting way to present the message implying a "Jaws" movie poster feel to the whole image. Subtle and well executed. Unfortunately I wonder how many people will walk by without giving this a second glance.
woah I never noticed that hand but I remember that poster being there for a long while now. It really does feel like a horror movie.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right about many people walking by and never noticing this, I work in the mall and honestly have never noticed this poster. I think I definitely will now though! It's cool how they gave it the feeling of a movie poster, makes a potentially boring idea much more interesting.
ReplyDeletethis is also a good example of a design where centered text works.
ReplyDeleteOHMYGOD there's a hand! I've noticed this poster but have never given it much more than a glance. Though I have also thought it looked like a Jaws poster xD
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this!
Wow I never even saw the hand pulling the person into the dark abyss of "cold water" into their most certain demise before. Very effective, wish I had given this poster more of a glance before!
